The Brenda Athletic Club – Modesto Sport Club’s tennis program features something for every level of tennis player. The eleven lighted hard courts are open to all members. Our hard-working professional instructors offer both group and private tennis lessons for kids and adults. The goal is to help all students play tennis to the best of their ability and to encourage them to achieve their goals in this great sport. At the same time our staff tries its best to make learning and playing a fun experience. Throughout the year we host numerous tournaments and social tennis events that cater to all levels of player both younger and older. Also, every Wednesday night at 6 pm players are invited to play drop-in doubles for free. This is a fantastic way to meet other tennis enthusiasts. BAC Modesto’s Tennis Sports Staff
The tennis staff has the most certified USPTA tennis professionals in the valley. The club has twice won the award of USPTA Facility of the Year for the Central Valley. The staff has four members that have received awards from their peers here in Northern California. Shawn Black, Adult Coordinator and also MJC Men’s Tennis Coach, received the USPTA NorCal Associate Pro award in 2001 as NorCal’s finest Associate Pro. Brian Heiser, Junior Coordinator, was given last year’s USPTA Rookie of the Year award as the strongest USPTA first year professional. Jack Bracken, Associate Pro and past MJC Men’s Tennis Coach, received the prestigious USPTA NorCal Coach of the Year award in 2000 as well as many other coaching awards.
The tennis staff besides having a great reputation continues their education in the fun game of tennis. The staff goes to numerous educational conferences throughout the year to help its members learn the new modern game. The Racquet Club’s summer program has numerous camps and clinics with a very strong staff made up of the top college players and quality USPTA pros on court.
